Sitrep — Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 5, 2026 · Previous version: August 22, 2026

The short version: Sitrep has no accounts, no sign-in, and no server of its own, and everything you track in the app stays on your device. Sitrep does show ads through Google AdMob, and AdMob collects some information — including your device's advertising ID — in order to serve them. That is the only data collection in the app, and it is described in full below.

Who we are

Sitrep is an unofficial companion app for the game Escape from Tarkov, developed and published by NorthForge Dev. You can reach us at northforgedev.io@gmail.com.

Information we collect ourselves

None. Sitrep has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting services, and no server of its own. We do not receive your in-app activity, and we have no way to identify you.

We do receive aggregate, anonymous statistics from two places we do not control: Google Play reports installs, uninstalls, ratings, and crash counts to every developer, and Google AdMob reports ad impressions and earnings. Neither identifies you to us individually.

Advertising

Sitrep displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. To select and measure those ads, the AdMob SDK collects information from your device, which may include:

This information goes to Google, not to us. Its use is governed by Google's own policies: see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android's Settings → Privacy → Ads, which also offers an option to opt out of ad personalisation device-wide.

Your consent choices

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or a US state with an applicable privacy law, Sitrep shows you Google's consent form the first time you open the app and asks what you agree to before any ad is requested. You can change that choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options inside the app.

If you decline personalised ads, Sitrep still shows ads — they are simply chosen without using your data for personalisation.

Data stored on your device

Sitrep saves your in-app activity locally on your device so the app works the way you left it. This includes:

This data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us, to Google, or to anyone else, and it is excluded from Android's cloud backup. You can erase all of it at any time by clearing the app's data in Android settings or by uninstalling the app.

Internet access

Sitrep uses your internet connection for two purposes: downloading public game data — item details, quest information, hideout requirements, flea market prices, and item images — from the community-run tarkov.dev API, and requesting advertisements from Google as described above.

Like any request made over the internet, these downloads necessarily expose your device's IP address to the server that answers them. Sitrep sends no personal information, identifiers, or usage data to tarkov.dev, and we never see those requests. You can review the tarkov.dev project at tarkov.dev.

Permissions

Sitrep itself requests only two Android permissions:

The Google AdMob SDK adds a small set of standard advertising permissions of its own: the advertising ID permission, Android's Privacy Sandbox ad-services permissions, and network-state and background-work permissions it uses to request and cache ads. These are install-time permissions — Android grants them automatically and never prompts you.

Sitrep does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, files, or any other sensitive capability.

Third-party links

Some screens link to external websites, such as community wiki pages or escapefromtarkov.com. Advertisements also link to their advertisers' own destinations. These links open in your device's browser, and the sites they lead to are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

Children's privacy

Sitrep is a companion app for a game rated for mature audiences, is distributed to an audience of 18 and over, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and Sitrep is not configured for child-directed advertising treatment. If you believe a child has used the app, resetting the device's advertising ID as described above will clear the identifier associated with that use.

Changes to this policy

If Sitrep's data practices change again, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
